What resulted from the corruption investigations in Louisiana in the late 1930s?
Earl Long was elected governor of Louisiana in 1940 in a landslide victory.
The federal government took direct control of Louisiana’s executive branch.
The 1940 elections removed the Longites from the Louisiana state legislature.
Louisiana voters elected Sam Jones, an Anti-Longite, as governor in 1940.
Answer:
Explanation:
When the Louisiana voters in 1930 elected Huey Long to the United States Senate, the thirty-seven-year-old dynamo already exercised a tight grip over state politics, built up during his years as governor. Unwilling to relinquish the reins of state power to an unfriendly lieutenant governor, Long delayed claiming his Senate seat until January 1932. The next summer, he employed his charismatic eloquence on behalf of both presidential candidate Franklin D. Roosevelt and his personal choice for the second Louisiana Senate seat, U. S. Representative John H. Overton. Long's strength in Louisiana had no equal, and in the September 13, 1932, primary, John Overton easily defeated incumbent Senator Edwin Broussard for the Democratic nomination, a prelude to an unopposed victory in the general election.

List important events and perspectives from Florida’s territorial history (1821–1845).
People
Places
Events
Answer:
On March 12, 1821, General Andrew Jackson received his commission as military governor of Florida from Secretary of State John Quincy Adams, later Jackson's Presidential rival. Adams entrusted the job of bringing Spanish Florida into the American fold not because he would be a popular choice of the Spanish, of course, but because Jackson knew the region and would attract the confidence of those most likely to settle in the tropical territory.
By 1840, Florida had taken its place as a member of the Old South. Its leading citizens, many of neighboring Georgia and Alabama, had formed economic and political ties to all the institutions of Southern society. Florida was an agrarian society and this predominance of agriculture, with its definable class and caste, would leave an notable mark on Florida history

At school, we have all studied the amazing history of the two most important city-states in Greece, Athens and Sparta. Even after 2500 years, one of the most widely discussed war topics at academic institutions is the Peloponnesian War that broke out between the two. When I was given the task to write my assignment at the end of college to obtain my degree, this was the topic I chose.
Of course, I still needed some help seeing how I didn’t know how to write an introduction for an assignment that explores such an important topic. But, I’ll discuss that a bit later.
Every war is different in its own way, but this specific war is especially good to research due to the fact that the two city-states are extremely different. They had different forms of government, culture, not to mention their location.
Athens was located near the sea and walled from its surrounding. Inside those walls, it had the most talented sculptors and potters known in the history. The wealthiest of all Athenians constantly strolled the busy marketplace with their slaves.
On the other hand, we have Sparta. Spread across a fertile farming area without any walls to surround the city, Sparta was a closed society. With much simpler buildings and soldiers with stern expressions, you could see people marching in columns across the streets of this city-state.
There are simply too many differences between the two, making this topic one of the most interesting you can explore. I hope that my short explanation of them will be of assistance.
In the beginning, Sparta started as a city-state of farmers. Soon after this, their population grew and they needed more land to do their work. This is when Sparta invaded the Messenians, their neighbors. After what seemed like a war that would never end, they conquered the land of Messenia and made its people their slaves. Interestingly, the Messenians outnumbered the Spartans by a lot – 10 to 1. And since they were treated terribly, they rose in revolt that took the Spartans 30 years to put down.
Without a doubt, this revolt brought huge changes for Sparta. To control their slaves, they built an extraordinary army, asking all Spartans to join. Their army was constantly filled with people who were bred to be soldiers and had to go through lifetime training.

Two Roads , Joseph Bruchac summary.
Answer:
It's 1932, and twelve-year-old Cal Black and his Pop have been riding the rails for years after losing their farm in the Great Depression. Cal likes being a "knight of the road" with Pop, even if they're broke. But then Pop has to go to Washington, DC—some of his fellow veterans are marching for their government checks, and Pop wants to make sure he gets his due—and Cal can't go with him. So Pop tells Cal something he never knew before: Pop is actually a Creek Indian, which means Cal is too. And Pop has decided to send Cal to a government boarding school for Native Americans in Oklahoma called the Challagi School.
At school, the other Creek boys quickly take Cal under their wings. Even in the harsh, miserable conditions of the Bureau of Indian Affairs boarding school, he begins to learn about his people's history and heritage. He learns their language and customs. And most of all, he learns how to find strength in a group of friends who have nothing beyond each other.
